Hi Billy - I used it in my dissertation too! What are you studying and where?

I can't recall where I found it now. But if you can lift it from my article you are very welcome.

Thanks Peter... I am studying History of Art and Edinburgh Uni! Thanks for your permission, can't seem to find it anywhere and some literature says plans don't survive!

Good comment, Lucy. I have a complete list of the artwork they were going to hang - and additional ones they planned to commission - for the Memorial hall. It would have been incredible. I might post it, actually.

Do! Does any of it ever get loaned out?

Some of it was never actually commissioned after Mond got his way. Most of the rest is with the IWM. Their problem is there are 85,000 items in their (ever-growing) stores of war art. There was a William Orpen exhibition last time I was at the IWM. Gassed by John Singer Sargent is currently not on display at IWM London. It toured to various institutions in North America and was displayed at IWM North in late 2018.

Great Post! Writing about this at the moment for my dissertation. I am interested in finding that preliminary sketch you attached as I can't find it anywhere on RIBA pix! Let me know if you can help - would be much appreciated. Billy

What a shame. Down with Mond. Was at Imp War Mus on Monday, & sum total of what was on view in WW1 gallery was two Nashes & one Sutherland. Would so like to see those paintings.
