I love your witty voice and the details here, Peter! I feel as though I walked through the museum with you, smiling as you occasionally whispered clever words about your observations. 😎😎😎
What a delight this is! And long may such gems continue. I think Chris Bryant an excellent choice and do hope he exerts pressure for the importance of the arts. I love Heywood Summer's book, and treasure my old copy, and a lovely surprise to see it appears here.
Thank you! Bryant is a good man and has arrived in a sound place politically after some wanderings as a younger chap. He was at Oxford with my wife, with whom he keeps in touch. I think he will hold his own against Whitehall intransigence. I confess I was unaware of Sumner until my visit - you’re never too old to learn!
If anyone will put up a fight, it is him! I admire him hugely and it is good to hear that my admiration is well founded. ( He certainly put Boris in his place!)If you don't already have Summer's book, it is quite beautiful.
Heywood’s work is definitely the standout one in this piece. I’ll have to add the museum to my list of to read and research about. I appreciate this coverage, Peter.
That's very kind, Portia! Glad you enjoyed it.
